I look more hippy than military. I'm laid back enough that people ask why or how things don't seem to affect me much. My manner is more Spirit of Christmas Present than anything, really, with some Shrek diluting it a bit.
Thus, my confusion in that people often salute me (as opposed to, say, waving). By often, I mean more or less once a week, and ranging from people I know to vague acquaintances. Is this normal? Does it only seem odd to me because I've never noticed it happening to others? And if it's not normal, what in the world is it that inspires this reaction?
Not that I expect you to have the answer, of course, unless it's that the answer to the first two questions is "Yes." It just seems strange to me.
