Goal Update

This is getting ridiculous. I need to get some people in front of my camera again, preferably as a shoot and not my usual recording of events thing. I mean, I enjoy and respect editorial photography, but I really miss working with people.

While I'm on the subject (more or less), here's an update on my goals for my year:

It goes slowly.

In fact, I'm a bit worried that I'm on track for a repeat of the previous year, all fits and starts, and I simply can't have that.
  • Spanish is coming along slowly, German even more so. Need to do more reading work with them, I think.
  • Fitness also moving slowly, but at least it's moving. Or I am. Yuk yuk yuk. In oddly related news, I've come across a slew of great costuming resources recently that should make things both easier and more affordable as I drag my carcass into shape for them.
  • Education and practice for a real go at regular voice-over work is generally slow but keeps getting jumps ahead. Proper focus in the evenings on some web programming should get my architectural photography launched at last, and that should keep my head above water financially and even get some expenses knocked out.
  • Plans for 2 bands are well in the works, and while I've been unsuccessful convincing a very talented bassist that he should get onstage again, I might have a lead on a guitarist for 1 of the groups.
  • The internal restructuring continues apace. Reinforcement from other people that the lessons are finally being correctly applied is thrilling and energizing beyond all expectation, and motivates me wonderfully.
Looked at like that, it seems I'm doing alright, doesn't it? As my own harshest critic, with goals that sometimes look more like ideals, it's never going to go fast enough for my taste. It's very hard to tell the difference between hitting a plateau that needs to be worked through, stalling out entirely, and just not being able to see the improvements from being too close to the problem. Be that as it may, I absolutely must redouble my efforts for most of these items, and remove the laziness that tries to creep in and eat away one day at a time.
