I consider passive-aggressive actions to be firmly in the "reprehensible" category. The whole idea is to dodge responsibility by way of plausible deniability, which is a lovely combination of weak, deceptive, and obnoxious. Usually, I use passive-aggressives as a chew toy for my disdain.
Couple nights ago I tried it out. I didn't feel like going to the extended trouble of explaining why I didn't want to put up with something, plus, turnabout and all that. So I gave it a dose of sullen, indirect hostility and when successful followed it with flat-out denial.
What a vile feeling. I have no idea how anyone makes a habit of that.

I abhore Passive Agressiveness probabably higher than anything, yet I seem surrounded by it. the part that puzzles me more than anything is when you call someone out on it, it's the perfect opportunity to come forward and say, "YES! I was angry at and I reacted in this manner ... blah blah blah" and yet they chose to deny it, which in my eyes backfires, because I've called you out, and walked away. Sadly I think it's becoming so common place. I get the "Bitch" moniker for being normal angry, while the P/A gets to look like Sally Sunshine because they never exhibit outward anger. I think its sociopathic.
Your suspicion being correct wouldn't surprise me in the least.
